i’ve totally fallen in love.. with all the absolutely FIERCE men in this movie! the creativity, self-expression, and style shown gives LIFE and is too inspiring. paris is burning is a very well known and celebrated documentary that was totally new to me.. until yesterday. the doc traces the lives of black and hispanic gay men living in nyc during the late 80s as they create and participate in the ball culture. they are the originators of terms like “reading,” “shade,” and the phenomenon that is “vogue-ing.” they paved the way for so much of the style and so many of the stars we see today. if you’ve never seen paris is burning, please watch and enjoy! if you have seen it, you can’t help but watch it again! let the children show you why classics never die! #keepitQUEEN.
